The Intentional Woman's Gift Guide: Unique & Purposeful Gift-Giving This Holiday Season
You spoke & I listened.
Friends, I present to you the first-ever holiday gift guide for holistic and intentional living. To be honest, I NEVER thought I’d create a gift guide. But once you guys kept asking for it, my wheels started spinning. Because I DO have so many ideas on fun things to give and receive.
Gifts that are intentional. Purposeful. Useful. Beautiful.
You guys requests that I make this about what *I* would want on a dream Christmas list so that you guys can reference and use the ideas for your own list, gifts for friends, moms, sisters, etc.
In a nutshell— this is just what, I, your average, health-focused, quality-obsessed 27-year-old would want for christmas this year. This is my dreeeeeam list— on a variety of topics, at a variety of price points, for a variety of people. Use it for your gifting inspo— whether it’s for others…. orrrrrrr yourself (nudge, nudge)
You can use this list however you want— for inspo on how to shop for the women in your life or as inspiration for your own giftlist (I ain’t judgin’!). To be honest, many of these items are on my PERSONAL gift list. I truly picked each item with intention— things that I think are actually worth it actually exciting to give and get. Without, further ado, let’s dig into the TFB gift guide!
My General Attitude Towards Gifts (At The Holidays and Beyond)
To be honest, I am not the biggest gift person. It is literally both my and Adam’s last “love language” when we took the love languages assessment in pre-martial counseling, hahahaha
Maybe it’s how I was raised? My family isn’t a huge “gift” family around the holidays. Truthfully, we don’t do any Christmas gifts for each other (except the kiddos) and it’s been that way for quite some time. However, when we do buy gifts for one another (at any time of year), they are really INTENTIONAL.
And that’s how I still like to approach gifts— I don’t want presents to feel like I *HAVE* to give/receive them, but more like a gift I WANT to give/receive if that makes sense???
I am very thankful for that attitude because I feel like it’s instilled in me a desire to give gifts that MATTER and not just giving them to give them. I don’t just want to give any old thing that checks the box of a present— I want to give things that the person will actually love, use, and enjoy.
I approach the same attitude when people ask ME what I want for a gift.
Because, honestly? When people used to ask me what I wanted for a gift, I’d be that person that says “oh, little ol’ me?!? I don’t need a gift! Anything is fine!”. And guess what….I’ve realized that’s serving NO ONE. The person giving you a gift WANTS to know what I want.
By intentionally creating a gift list, YOU are getting a gift you love and THEY don’t have to waste time wondering what you want. When you send them a list of items you are interested in, you are taking the guesswork out of it for that person (and making christmas shopping a whoooole lot easier on them) AND getting a gift you will LOVE. Win-win!
I have a favor to ask...
I’m just going to be straight up with ya-- making this blog post took a LONG . TIME. (like, so dang long *nervous laugh*). I had to dig around, find in-stock items, research, search for quality items, get links, search for coupons, write descriptions, the whoooole works, etc.
So, if you don’t mind, I would be SO grateful if you shopped through the links and coupons I share in this post. Some (but not all) of them are affiliate links that give me a small commission and *directly* support this little small biz of mine.
It doesn’t cost you a penny more, but using my tracking links you are directly supporting my small business and I am truly grateful if you use my direct links & coupons :) As always, you do you! No pressure! But just know I TRULY appreciate when you use my affiliate links and coupons! You are what helps this lil small biz to grow :)
So, all of that to say let's dive in I broke this blog post into different categories— some very practical, some very fun, some very special and luxurious I think there's something for everyone!
Experience Gifts & Intentional Giftcards:
This is prob my fav type of gift to give and the primary gift that Adam and I will do for each other. These are gifts that you can DO-- you can live them, enjoy them, look forward to them. There are a few ways to go about this (including how to not give a boring giftcard). Here a few of my fav ideas:
Concert Tickets: This is SUCH a fun one. We recently just bought my parents James Taylor tickets for their 40th anniversary and they were so giddy my mom cried happy tears. Adam bought me sylvan esso tickets for our anniversary and I got him Caamp tickets… safe to say, we LOVE using a concert experience gift :) It gives you something to look forward to, you can personalize it, and can often find a pretty good deal!
A gift card for an airline service: I don’t know why more people don’t do this! We asked for gift certificates for Delta a few christmases ago as our “big” gift in Adam’s family and it was soooo fun. No, they didn’t cover the cost of the whole flight-- but they saved a lot of money, and gave the best gift of all- travel! HIGHLY recommend giving (and receiving, ha!) this gift
A gift certificate for a service you want, but feel guilty buying for yourself: The sky is the limit! Get a gift certificate for a massage, acupuncturist, interior design, etc. When I graduated with my doctorate, my parents got me a gift certificate for a massage and acupuncture session-- it was SO appreciated and enjoyed (and I felt 0% guilty for ~treating myself~).
A gift certiicate for airbnb OR a pre-planned weekend trip: One thing I LOVE to give Adam is a pre-planned weekend away at an airbnb. I’ll just give him a note that shares where we are going, when, and a little loose itinerary :) It’s such a joyful experience and meaningful gift. You can also give an airbnb giftcard to a loved one! Useful, practical, and special!
A gift certificate for a place you LOVE to shop but often feel guilty about: Thiiiiiiis. I think if you are going to get a gift card for someone, actually make it SPECIAL. Not just like a generic giftcard to any old store, but somewhere that feels more ~special~. Adam’s mom will typically get me an anthropologie giftcard and I ALWAYS look forward to it. It’s so fun to pick out 1-3 quality, ~fancier~ items with the giftcard each year guilt-free. It’s a giftcard I ACTUALLY look forward to & feels personalized to me & feels so special.
A pre-planned (and paid for) day: This doesn’t have to be fancy, but this gift is about putting in the LEG-WORK and planning (and pre-paying) a special day for someone you love. It could be a mini itinerary with a giftcard to a cocktail bar, 2 tickets to a play, a giftcard to bowling, a giftcard to a tourist attraction in your area (for example, Duluth has boat rides, fishing charters, etc.), it could be tickets to the children’s museum for your nieces & nephews, etc. Whatever it is, purchase the tickets/get a giftcard and “outline” the little experience day with a general timeline that you are giving them.
Okay, this one is random, but: Do you have someone in your life that’s a bit picky? Loves to shop local? Sustainable? Don’t know what to get them? PURCHASE THEM AN ETSY GIFTCARD. Etsy is fulllllll of variety, unique pieces, and supporting small businesses. This giftcard feels LIMITLESS. I’ve asked for this before as a gift and it is SO. FUN. to use-- the options are endless and your a supporting small businesses while you shop! Win-win!
A gift certificate to a special restaurant: THIS. THIS. THIS. I looooove giving (and receiving) this gift. It’s one of my fav to give to couples, our siblings, parents, etc. Pay attention to a restaurant they LOVE and then get a giftcard there for $50-$100. You are essentially gifting them a date night! Adam and I often ask for this type of gift from our family around the holidays-- we know we’ll use it, love it, and savor it! Often times, these giftcards are to a ~nicer~ restaurant that feels like a treat! It’s truly the gift that keeps giving because you can use the gift certificate long after the holidays and enjoy it on a special day with intention :)
Personalized Gifts:
Personalization can take any old gift to a true, cherished keepsake. Below are a few items that I have personally given as gifts before that allow you to customize with a special letter, word, phrase, etc. Not only do these show intention, but they are all either beautiful OR useful. (I just got the address stamp myself for our new house!)
Address Stamp: I have bought one of these for every house we have ever lived. It’s so fun to have a unique, personalized address stamp that we can use for Christmas cards and beyond! Did someone you know just move? this could be a super fun gift!
Christmas Ornament: Mmmmmm, a BEAUTIFUL little keepsake. Can you imagine getting a beautiful, personalized Christmas ornament to save and remember a certain time in life? I love it! I am personally drooling over this one.
Bracelet: I got similar bracelets for my bridesmaids in our wedding (with a more minimalist font). I had each one engraved with latitude/longitude coordinates of a place that was special to our friendship. My bestie, Megan, came over for a wine night recently and was wearing hers— 4 years after the wedding! These bracelets are simple yet meaningful :)
Key ring: Again, just a key ring…. but personalizing it makes it feel so special, intentional, and useful.
Necklace: Put a special word, phrase, or number that is significant to you for a special, wearable keepsake! This one would be a beautiful gift for a mom
Ring with their birth flower: Mmmmmm, this personalizable ring is lovely! Can you imagine receiving this as a gift?! So special.
Puzzle: Okay, this is more for the kiddos— but I got this last year for our goddaughter and spelled out her name. I loved that I could engrave the back, pick the colors, and customize to HER :)
Electronics:
Okay, there is just SOMETHIN’ about getting electronics on Christmas. I VIVIDLY remember when I got my gameboy color at christmas as a 7-year-old and I swear I have never been more shocked or giddy at a gift. While I no longer ask for nintendos, electronics can be a special “bigger” gift. Here are a few that I either have— or want!
record player!: Would I even be Kate without rambling about how you NEED A RECORD PLAYER?!?!? Hahahaha. This is SUCH a unique gift (and not as expensive as you may think!). I honestly don’t know how we ever lived without our vinyl—this is our cookin’-dinner, relaxin’, studying, date night soundtrack. Couldn’t recommend more! Here’s where Adam got ours— tons of choices!
vinyls: ^^this is why a record player is the gift that keeps giving! Because, then, for each holiday moving forward you can pick out a new vinyl for that person that you know they’ll love! I can pretty much always count on a thoughtful, intentional vinyl from Adam on Christmas from an artist I love. So fun!
Samsung frame TV: Okay, this is a big one-- but in 2018 Adam and I bought the Samsung TV for each other as a joint christmas gift to each other and we’ve never looked back. It’s a TV that *genuinely* looks like art on your wall. You can customize the photo/art and have it be a statement piece in your room… and then also watch netflix, hulu, cable, etc. on it. If you and your partner don’t know what you want, perhaps get this gift to each other for both of you to enjoy :)
running watch: Get your fitness-lovin person a new running watch! If they are a runner, no one does it better than garmin (in my opinion). Apple watches are great for those that do care about fitness but are not as obsessed by the metrics (mile times, splits, elevation gain, etc.)
iphone: Okay, this was my personal [business] christmas gift to myself this year! I have NEVER bought myself the newest model of an iphone, but since I use it for everyyyyything related to my business, this year is the year!
kindle: Please, please, please get a kindle. It CHANGED. THE. GAME. for my reading experience and it’s relatively inexpensive for an electronic gift. Love it!
clothing steamer: Okay, this is SO random, but I kind of want a steamer for clothes??? My clothes are always wrinkly, but I never go through the struggle of ironing them…. But I think I WOULD use a steamer! It seems so easy??? (CB2)
fabric pill remover: another random one, but I genuinely want this??? I could watch videos of these things all day. These little thing-a-ma-bobs remove pills from sweaters, fabrics, furniture, etc.
a quality coffee grinder: for the java lover in your life! We got this as a wedding gift and LOVE it— it can grind everything from fine powder espresso to course grounds!
a Bluetooth speaker: Adam asked for this as birthday present one year, and I’ll admit, I was doubtful how much he would actually use it…. WELP. Turns out we both use it. all. the. time. Relatively inexpensive and great quality sound!
Clean Skincare & Beauty Products:
Okay, probably the things I NEVER get sick of getting is quality, (nontoxic, obv) skincare and beauty products. Something about them just feels luxurious and practical since you use them so much! Whether it’s a few small items bundled together, stocking stuffers, or a whole dang new holisitc skincare regimen— gifting (and getting) quality skincare is SUCH a great gift! Below are my triiiied and true. I have personally used, loved, and approved of each and every item on the list below & I think you’ll love ‘em!
A bundle of clean makeup (MAJOR sale!): Brb while I buy myself one of these, ha! This mini collection of clean make-up must-haves is such an amazing set and such a fun gift! I hiiiiighly recommend every single item that are included in this little set. This really is such a great deal!
More Clean Makeup Favs… Okaaaaaaay, I have a feeling that^^ clean makeup bundle is going to sell out fast, so here are a few other clean makeup favs I love from ilia (you seriously can’t go wrong with this brand). two that absolutely stand out: The Super Serum Skin Tint and THIS. MASCARA: Guys, a clean mascara that actually works. Do yourself a favor and get it. Other noteworthy fav items below: The color haze is a multi-use color that blends beautifully: lips, cheek bones, eyelids. (This is like the clean version of Glossier products!) This highlighter stick is my secret to that poppin’ cheekbones gloooooow. Bronzer, baby! Trust me on this—ILIA is the clean makeup brand you’ve been looking for. They have so many fun items— mix ‘n’ match to create a perfect gift!
SMALL BIZ SHOUT OUTS CLEAN BEAUTY:
This nontoxic skincare starter kit: I could honestly rant forever about this brand. Small-business. Lady-owned. Created with sustainability and the highest quality ingredients in mind. And the best part? Not only are their ingredients 100% pure + all-natural goodness, but they work. Their skincare bundles offer something for EVERYONE. if you are new to clean beauty, look no further— these collections are the perfect place to get started (and save money!). These packages are suuuuuch a great deal, it’s insane! (you can explore all of the money-saving bundles with different products here!)
Gua sha stone & face roller: If there are 2 skincare tools that have transformed my skin the most is hands down my gua sha and jade roller— these tools help decrease inflammation, fight wrinkles, and promote collagen and growth factors in the skin (AKA they give a natural, radiant, well nourished glooooow).
Body and facial dry brush: Dry brushing is a holistic skincare tactic that exfoliates, promotes circulation and cell-turnover (AKA gives you younger looking skin), and BRIGHTENS skin. (not to mention, it just feels GOOD). I dry brush my body and my face every morning and it has been game changing for bloat, dry skin, in-grown hairs, and promoting a healthy lympathatic system. So easy and such a great gift!
The vanilla & almond body butter: Friend, I gotta say it. It’s time to stop giving toxic bath and body works lotions that are full of propylparabens, artificial fragrences, and dyes. Still want nourished skin? get this nourishing, all-natural body butter instead. it smells like a vanilla, cinnamon roll, cookie dough, magical dessert— I wish this blog post had a scratch ‘n’ sniff feature, ha!. My fav smell EVER and is sooooo nourishing to the skin. (not to mention, a little goes a lonnnnggg way— lasts forever!)
This serum trio: No matter what skin concern you’re facing: dry/sensitive skin, a flare up of acne, or wanting to prevent wrinkles, this serum set gives you a targeted serum no matter what your skins needs are. I LOVE having this little lineup— because I can tailor and customize which serum I use each day based on the needs of my skin in that moment.
Eye cream. Another product I like is the eye cream from the clean beauty company Cocokind. The tube has a metal applicator that feels sooooooo cooling and nice on the skin.
This overnight facemask: hoooooooly cow. I put this on before bed and my skin is SO soft when I wake up. This mask is a natural exfoliant that resurfaces the face and is helpful for wrinkles in the long term. Just put it on before bed and you’ll wake up with glowing skin. I love it.
Beverly & 3rd clean perfumes: woooooow. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. Clean candles, room sprays, and perfumes to give a friend— or to treat yourself! Their owner was kind enough to give a 15% off coupon to all TFB readers— use the code KATE to save! Love, love, love this small, lady-owned biz. Their candles and room sprays and perfumes are gonna rock your world— in the best way!
A holistic skincare collection for YOUR unique skincare needs: Switching from traditional skincare products to all-natural can feel straight up overwhelming. But with research, trial and error, and experimenting, I have found the most accessible, affordable brand to help YOU clean up your skincare routine. Enter: Primally Pure. They are truuuuuly my one-stop shop for all things nontoxic + natural skincare. I personally follow the balance regimen, but they have different collections for each skin type—you can find yours here. (Big reminder that you can save 10% on everything with the coupon code KATE10)

my favorite (and only) CBD brand I use: CBD can be way overhyped and made to sound like it is a one-size-fixes-all “quick fix” to everything. While I disagree with over-the-top claims, I will say CBD is a great tool. I personally love it for sleep support and managing anxious/overwhelming moods. I take it to help me stay calm, peaceful, and rested (and I’ve truly noticed a difference). This is the personal brand I use and they have SO many gift bundles and sales with the holidays! (and you can throw “kateeskuri” coupon code on top of any sale to get an EXTRA discount! enjoy!)
blood sugar monitor & personalized dietician support: Ok, maybe this isn’t the perfect gift for everyone, but I personally would LOVE to get this. It’s like a mini science experiment with your nutrition that gives you SO much insight-- one month with a continuous glucose montior AND 1-on-1 guidance and support from a registered dietician. Doing this is SO eye-opening on your diet, blood sugar tolerance, and hunger levels. Hiiiiighly recommend for you or the health nut in your life. (enter coupon code KATE25 for an extra discount!)

the perfect bath setup: This one is a short + sweet description, but wow— baths are one of my FAVE self-care rituals always and supportive of your health. So simple yet soooo grounding and comforting. My set-up? A tub full of hot water, a cup or two of epsom salt, some essential oils, a nontox face mask soakin’ in, and my waterproof Kindle. (okay, okay and maybe a glass of cab too, shhhhhhh) BLISS.
cookbooks: A few cookbooks for whole food, holistic cooking. I have a few of my favorites listed here :)

hilma natural remedies and herbs: natural remedies for bloating, headaches, allergy support… YUP. This brand is hands down one of my fav things in my “crunchy” medicine cabinet. Clinically proven (!!!!) herbs in a pill-form that are designed by doctors and herbalists to add to your at-home pharmacy. FINALLY, an easy, natural way to help with headaches, indigestion, sinus symptoms..… AND backed by research. You can use the code “THEFOUNDATION20” to save 20% on clinically-backed natural supplements. Enjoy!
a personalized regimen of vitamins & supplements: the world of vitamins and supplements can be sketchhhhy. So, Kate, which of their vitamins do you recommend? Welllll, my friend, I personally believe in only taking supplements if you NEED them… which is exactly why I love Honed Vitamins. Before you ever take a vitamin of theirs, you complete a mail-in lab test that assesses 350+ biomarkers, symptoms, and lifestyle data points to ensure you only take vitamins your body needs. This simple at-home test measures for nutritional imbalances, mineral ratios, metabolism factors, and heavy metal exposures. Once you get your results, they make a custom-made vitamin plan for you and your body’s needs. (I honestly GEEKED OUT at my lab results. It was so thorough and gave me so many insights into my health). I recommend this brand because in an internet world full of cookie-cutter, generic, one-size-fits all vitamin recommendations— honed offers an option that is specific to YOU, designed to re-balance your metabolism and improve your health and wellness. Okay, you all know I LOOOOVE all things spirituality, intention setting, & making time for reflection. Below are some gift ideas for your more ~woo woo~ gal pals that love to meditate, journal, and get in touch with their spiritual side :)
meditation cushion & floor pillows: Mmmmm, meditation pillows. A daily meditation practice has been SO impactful for managing my emotions, pausing for reflection, remembering gratitude, and staying grounded through the busyness of life. Having a dedicated space in my house & meditation pillows has been really helpful in me sticking with it!
a guided workbook journal collection: 6 unique journals that lead you through writing exercises, reflections, and goal setting for topics on manifestation, goal setting, health, spirituality, and finding inner peace.
a beautiful crystal: crystals are BEAUTIFUL. I have found beautiful crystals on etsy! Soooo beautiful and special to have in the home.
this Christian devotional: ooohhhh my— I don’t even have the words how beautiful and RELATABLE this little deovtional is. There is a unique one for each day of the year, and I can’t even express how they truly resonate.
a one-year membership to…: You could pre-pay for a meditation app like Calm, Headspace, etc. for a meditating friend :)
books: Mmmmm, there are so many good books that make me THINK and shift my mindset. I have my favs listed here!
a membership to The Text Club: Give your friend the gift of 365 uqiue affirmations texted to them at a spontaneous time each day! Simply, purchase a text club membership as normal, and once you receive your confirmation email/sign up link, just enter your gift recipient’s information for the name, phone number, etc. (Please send me an email at hello@thefoundationblog.com just so I can “accept” your friend into the text club! Then you’re set! Easy peezy!)
tarot cards and accompanying book: You all know I love my little tarot deck. A fun gift could be purchasing a beautiful set for someone who would enjoy! I HIGHLY recommend getting both the deck and the book so that the person can read up which card means :)
incsence burner: I found this beautiful incense burner and WOW. So gorg. You could also make the gift complete by also including some incense sticks :)
Practical Gifts:
Mmmmm, we LOVE a practical gift. I think practical gifts are amazing in all stages of life, but probably BEST suited for those that are in a transition phase-- for example, I LOVED getting gifts like this in high school and college when I was short on money and living more strictly on a budget. They were truly game-changers and so, so appreciated. At this point in my life, I would probably get something else that feels more ~special~, but I did (and still do) love these logical, practical gifts:
Pay for their gas: by getting gift certificates for gas stations
A grocery gift card: always so practical and useful
A gift card for home reno: Adam’s parents just gave him a Home Depot giftcard for his birthday as we recently moved and it was SOOO useful and practical.
Covering their workout habit: ANother practical gift could be covering their gym subscription, getting them a peloton subscription for a few months, buying them exercise equipment, etc.
A month or two to a meal delivery service: my faaaaav is Factor 75. So, so, so good. Praise the lord because I finally found a meal kit that sources QUALITY meat-- grass-fed, no antibiotics, free-range-- and DELICIOUS.
Clothing:
To be honest, I don’t often give/ask for clothing because I am kind of picky and want to pick it out myself! However, there are some foolproof items that I would add to my own Christmas wish list! Maybe they’re your style, maybe they’re not— but here’s personally what I would LOVE to get this holiday season:
The “cuvy” line of jeans from madewell: If you feel like you can NEVER find jeans that fit your waist and your hips, listen up. These jeans are for you. Did you know that if your hip size is 10 inches (or more) bigger than your waist, you should get. a “curvy” style pant?? (for example, my waist is 39 inches and my waist is 26.5, which is a difference of 12.5 inches). I could NEVERRRR find jeans that fit until I got this style. These have so many vairations— but just pick from the “curvy” line, and you will have your new favorite pants. I am OBSESSED. (I also recommend sizing down!)
Sweat sets: I have this exact matching set in multiple colors— soooo cozy, so warm, and sustainable!
Nice socks: I mean….. WHO DOESN’T love nice socks on Christmas??? There’s no question that smartwool does it best :)
clothing giftcards are CLUTCH: honestly, with clothing, giftcards are AMAZING. Some of my fav places to ask for gift cards for clothes are
or a specific small biz clothing brand of your choosing!.
Everlane. I had heard of this brand 903284032984 times before I actually tried them. and welp, IT IS WORTH THE HYPE. I mean……. I’m obsessed. *This* is now my go-to place where I get all of my wardrobe staple pieces. Their pieces are trendy yet TIMELESS. Also— I have NEVER seen a company more transparent in their sourcing, production, costs, profits, employee treatment, etc. It is SO refreshing. Not only are they straight-up and honest with their production, but sustainability, recycled materials, and organic cottons are the norm around here. Basically…. they’re a dream brand. Save 10% on your first order here!
Pajama sets: Mmmmmm, matching pajama sets just make me feel like I have my LIFE together. I LOVE looking on etsy for some sustainable options, anthropologie has unique sets and fun patterns, or target for matching pajama sets.
Sustainable work out gear & sweat suits: This company is r e v o l u t i o n a r y. What drew me in? That their clothing is made of recycled plastic? YUP. That they pay their workers a livable wage? YUP YUP. That they donate a portion of every sale to removing plastic from the ocean? TRIPLE YUP. I was intrigued. But also, like, thought it was too good to be true? Welp. I took the plunge and ordered a set and was blown away by the leggings themselves. Like, I knew I loved their mission, but I just didn’t expect the quality to be better than my old brand(Yup. F’real.) The fabric is super thick and does not pill whatsoever even after wearing to hot yoga and running and washing it over + over again. Quadruple YUP. Oh! and their packaging is completely plastic-free and their site has inclusive, diverse sizing and models! YUP^5. Okay, I need to stop ranting now. You just found your dream, eco-friendly workout brand, my friend. (You NEED the paloma sports bra in your life. HANDS down my favorite sports bra of all time. I would size down one from your regular sports bra size!)
SMALL BIZ SHOUT OUT:
Vetta Capsule Clothing: My absolute fav place to get quality, sustainably-made items is from Vetta Capsule. I once bought myself one of their capsule collections as a Christmas Gift… to myself :) Their clothes are SO versatile, built to mix ‘n’ match, and 10000% stand the test of time. Highly recommend checking them out!

Ummmmm, it’s a no brainer. :) Browse through and find the one that speaks most to you! It’s time to simplify your wardrobe, yes?
Outdoorsy & Nature Gifts:
Mmmmm, another super common way that Adam and I gave gifts! For the entirety of college, all of our gifts to each other was slowly and intentionally building up our camping gear— one gift at a time! This is such a fun, practical gift that invests in adventure! Cheers!
yeti cooler: this would be a bigger gift, but a gift that will last a lifetime. We got this as a gift at our wedding and we LOVE it. It keeps things cold for soooo long & we use it all the time.
specific gear: While there are SO many ways to camp and different forms of gear, I outline my personal camping must-haves here :) It may help spark some ideas and give you recommendations for camping gifts!
camping gear gift card: for the outdoor enthusiast in your life, a giftcard to backcountry would be AMAZING. They have soooo many different varieties of brands, products, and gear. I personally would LOVE a giftcard here. (they are having amazing sales right now)
a nice winter jacket: a nice jacket is a GAME CHANGER. I am browsing (and drooling over) the north face and Patagonia winter jacket options currently.
A piece of equipment: Last year Adam got me a “new” road bike for christmas (it was a beauty from craigslist!), this year, I am thinking about asking for nordic skis…. Brainstorm if there are any outdoors gears, toys, or equipment that you are hoping for!
SMALL BIZ SHOUT OUT:
an eco-friendly set of reusable items: little eco-friendly sets like these options (number 1 or number 2) are a great place to start in reducing single-use plastic. such a fun gift idea!
For The Home
Mmmmm, this is front of mine for me right now as we recently bought our new house! Filling it with special, intentional pieces is such a gift (literally), and I think there are some phenomenal ideas to give your fav homebody!
coffee table books: a good coffee table book can be a great read AND statement piece.Intentionally pick out a book on a topic your loved one loves!
record player: I am once again, asking you…… to buy a record player. HA! But, seriously. Best gift ever. Adam got me ours on valentine’s day and it was one of my favorite gifts of all time! SO fun and great for the home :) YEARS later and we still use ours daily.
unique pieces that support small businesses: I alwaaaaays browse etsy for home decor needs. This is where I get 90% of my homemade pottery pieces: vases, mugs, and bowls. While etsy is a massssssive marketplace, I strategize by searching keywords that align with my home decor style. For example, I will browse “boho home decor:, “scandanavian home decor”, and “natural home decor”. You can browse general domains similar to the links above— or get specific when you search— for example, “vintage books for decor”, “macrame wall hanging”, “homemade minimalist wall art”, etc. Happy browsing! There are so many talented makers and thrifters out there, and etsy is my favorite way to find them!
Statement (yet cozy) blankets: While giving a fuzzy blanket is a generic gift, I think upleveling it to a UNIQUE, statement blanket can make it seem more special. I get blankets and pillows from all over, but I love Anthropologie blankets and pillows. I am a firm believer that quality bedding and pillows can elevate a space—they are a final detail that ties everything else together. I particularly love Anthro’s because they are SO textured and unique and truly make the space. I always get them when they’re on sale! They are actually WORTH the price if you can swing it—so soft + beautiful texture to add a unique flair to your space.
giftcards are clutch: similar to clothes, giftcards for home decor are SO nice so the person can pick out exactly what they want. My advice? Just be intentional in how you word the gift! For example, “I got you this gift card so that you could find a special place for your new home!” That note instantly makes the gift card more intentional and special as the thought you put into it is clear.
Where to get the gift card? Personally, I would loveeeeee to get some to:these water glasses: sooo random, but i genuinely LOVE these water glasses we bought on amazon. They are kind of shaped like a beer can?? But we love them, and have gotten so many compliments on them when people come over?? Kate approved.
SMALL BIZ SHOUTOUT:
these gorgeous calendars: my sweet friend, Katherine, is an incredibleeee artist. Her 2022 calendar is available (only 20 copies left!) and I think it’s just stunning— so many beautiful images to accompany your year. I ordered one for myself as soon as they released :)
nontoxic home cleaning supplies: Did you know most conventional house cleaners are full of unnecessary chemicals, endocrine disruptors, airway irritators, and toxins? I hiiiiiiighly recommend using Branch Basics to clean your home. You buy one allllll-natural cleaning set that covers EVERYTHING (glass cleaner, bathroom, kitchen, hand soap…literally everything!). It lasts FOREVER, and is soooo versatile— BONUS: you can save 10% with the code KATE10 at checkout.
For Cozy Nights In:
I think a foolproof gift is something that helps a loved one RELAX. We all live a fast-paced life and giving someone the gift of a cozy, self-care evening at home is just BLISS. The below items are upgraded versions of the typical “here’s a candle and a random fuzzy slipper” gift. These are a bit more unique, all nontoxic, and allllll promote relaxation and calm at home :)
pajamas sets: there is NOTHING more cozy than putting on a matching pajama set— and I stand by that. I LOVE looking on etsy for some sustainable options, anthropologie has unique sets and fun patterns, or target for matching pajama sets.
the holistic spa kit: all-natural bath soaks, nourishing body oil, and a dry brush. *ahhhhh*
“the comfort book” by Matt Haig: this book just feels like a hug. short poems, reflections, and quotes that just bring you, well…. comfort. It’s lovely!
electric tea kettle: if you don’t have an electric kettle yet, you NEED one. hot tea and cozy beverages ready at the touch of a button.
Heated shoulder pack and blanket: This. Thing. You guys, don’t ask questions, just trust me—you need a warm shoulder wrap thingamabob and a heated blanket. One of these things that you heat up, put on your back, and just go “ahhhhhh.” same with the blanket— so cozy. i literally have this on all the time.
The facemask trio: 3 unique face masks for 3 specific skin states— no matter what your skin is facing (acne, sensitivities, inflammation, or just wanting to prevent wrinkles), this mask collection covers ALL your needs with holistic, targeted ingredients
Essential oils & aromatherapy: Scents can set the moooood for a cozy, relaxing night at home. But, here’s a hard pill for many to swallow— essential oils are not made equally. I hate to break it to ya, but many essential oil brands use synthetic fillers, chemicals, and fragrances in place of the natural, pure oil. To ensure you get the good stuff— ALLLLLWAYS look for a brand that does GC/MS batch testing, which is exactly why I get all my oils from here: high quality, low prices. No pyramid scheme stuff happening here—just high-quality, lovely oils to incorporate mini moments of joy into your day.
This seasonal scent collection: my fave for creating a cozy, inviting energy in your house that fits every season…without the use of toxic, chemical-filled candles you are getting from Anthro or Bath + Body. This collection is alllll-natural, completely nontoxic, and smells like a dream. the scent is instantly grounding + cozy.
This palo santo scent collection: Another scent that instantly grounds + centers me is the palo santo collection. I use the roller ball on my wrists and temples for a little energetic shift and I loooove the palo santo room spray for our bedroom—it has such a soothing, relaxing energy and it’s perfect for fall!
nontoxic candles: we all know that candles set the ~vibe~ for a cozy night in, but unfortunately, most candles are full of endocrine disruptors, artificial fragrance, and toxins. I always opt for beeswax candles to set the ambiance in a safe, nontoxic way :) You can find beeswax candles in any size/shape candle you’re looking for!
a unique candle holder: You’ll need something to old your beeswax candles! I thought this unique holder was BEAUTIFUL and eye-catching for a couple of candlesticks.
Alright, that’s a wrap!
The first EVER Foundation Blog gift guide. What did you think? I hope this list inspired you to pick intentional, purposeful items this holiday season.
But the main thing is, I didn’t want this gift to feel like just check-the-box, give-a-candle-because-i-don’t-know-what-else to get kind of present junk.
I wanted this to feel different than your regular gift guide which is just littered with stuff. I wanted this list to be intentional, purposeful, useful, beautiful presents & gifts & experiences for your loved ones (....or yourself, *wink*).
Regardless of where this list finds you today, I hope that you feel celebrated, loved, and warm this holiday season. And, more than anything, that this time of year is ALWAYS more about presence than presents.
Sending soooo much love!
Kate
